The World Bank is taking steps to improve its accountability and transparency by introducing a new accountability scorecard. The scorecard is designed to measure the outcomes of the bank's development efforts and provide a framework for shareholders and beneficiaries to observe and monitor the effects of the bank's financial support and assistance. The scorecard includes 22 global indicators, which is a significant reduction from the previous instrument that had 150 indicators. The indicators cover a range of themes, including poverty, prosperity, climate change, gender equality, inclusion of youth, and development in fragile, conflict-affected areas. The World Bank aims to adopt a more 'people-centric' approach and focus on development outcomes rather than inputs. The scorecard will track the work of all World Bank institutions, including the International Finance Corp and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The bank is currently working on the detailed methodologies to calculate the scores for each indicator, with half of the indicators set to be released in June and the rest in October [d8327022].
