Anitha Ravipati, a student from Glacier High School in Montana, has been named the Montana winner in the 16th annual Doodle for Google contest [7cd2098d]. In another art competition, Lexi Ann Vargas, an art student from Pateros High School, has won the Governor's Choice Award at the Superintendent's High School Art Show in Olympia. Vargas' mixed media painting titled 'Recycled Ocean' impressed the judges with its creative use of materials. She arranged and glued bottle caps to a plexiglass base and painted her image with acrylic paint. Vargas had to do extensive research to design her original composition. After winning an award at the Regional High School Art Show, Vargas qualified to send her painting to the state show, which featured over 200 entries from high schools in the North Central Educational Service District [2f8830a2].
The Hicksville Water District (HWD) recently held an awards ceremony to celebrate the 29 winners of the District’s 2024 Water Conservation Poster Contest. Alderman Bolton Primary Academy pupils in Latchford won the School Garden Challenge at the Arley Hall Garden Festival in Northwich. They received £60 worth of gardening vouchers for their creative flower bed design. Fourteen schools participated in the competition, which was judged by a panel. Alderman Bolton Primary Academy has been running a gardening club for several years, teaching children about the environment and allowing them to create beautiful spaces. The pupils also apply their garden-based learning in science lessons. Head teacher Sarah Morris expressed pride in the effort, creativity, teamwork, knowledge, and perseverance shown by the gardening club members.
