Newport, Vermont, has been awarded $112,000 as part of a $1.5 million T-TERM grant program aimed at revitalizing tourism and local businesses post-COVID-19. Governor Phil Scott announced the funding for 16 organizations, highlighting the importance of these grants in supporting community recovery efforts. The T-TERM grants, funded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration, are designed to stimulate economic growth and enhance local tourism initiatives. One of the key projects benefiting from this funding is the Newport Peddlers Project, which aims to create a unique shopping experience through custom carts. This project was launched on May 17, 2024, and will feature merchants operating the carts three times a week. The first month of operation will be free for merchants, followed by a fee of $50 per month until April 2025. Additionally, a marketing campaign is in place to attract out-of-state and international shoppers, further bolstering the local economy. [b46e0ba1]
