A new scorecard released by Friends of the Earth reveals that U.S. food retailers are falling short in their efforts to protect bees and other biodiversity from toxic pesticides. While twelve companies have implemented pesticide policies addressing pollinator health, concrete action across the grocery sector is lacking. Some companies have made progress, but others have lost points for not meeting their pollinator health policy goals. Only one major retailer has committed to eliminating key pesticides from its supply chain by 2025. The scorecard also evaluates companies on their organic offerings, with only two companies exceeding 15% of overall sales in organic products. The Bee-Friendly Retailer campaign, supported by over 100 organizations, aims to address the use of toxic pesticides in supply chains. This issue is of great importance as pollinators contribute billions of dollars to the U.S. and global economy annually. In a separate development, NGOs have warned financiers about the risks associated with the listing of meatpacker JBS on the New York Stock Exchange. [dc580f44]
