Over 1,000 students celebrated their graduation from Michigan Technological University this weekend, while Minnesota West Community & Technical College honored more than 580 graduates during a week-long celebration. Michigan Tech held two ceremonies, one for graduate students and one for undergraduates, with entrepreneur and philanthropist Chang K. Park delivering the commencement address at both. The graduate student speaker was Zazil Santizo-Huerta, earning her Ph.D. in mathematical sciences, while Vincent Barfield addressed the undergraduates. Meanwhile, Minnesota West held three ceremonies at their Worthington campus, including a Peace Officer Skills Certificate ceremony for 12 law enforcement program graduates, a pinning ceremony for nursing program graduates, and a commencement ceremony for 185 graduates.
In addition to the spring commencement ceremonies, Daniel Cutimanco, a graduate student from the University of Miami, recently graduated from the Thomas P. Murphy Master of Construction Management program. Cutimanco was chosen as the student speaker during the 2024 Graduate Commencement Ceremony. He plans to blend creativity, business acumen, and practical construction knowledge in his future career. Cutimanco will be joining Coastal Construction, a firm known for its innovative and sustainable approach. He received the prestigious Thomas P. Murphy Academic Achievement Award for his outstanding performance in the program. The Thomas P. Murphy Master of Construction Management program is a practice-oriented graduate degree that combines construction and business management courses.
Connecticut College also held its 106th Commencement ceremony on May 19, 2024. A total of 381 graduates received their diplomas during the ceremony at Tempel Green. The event featured speeches from Commencement Speaker Laura Coates and Class Speaker Gianna De La Cruz. The graduates processed onto Tempel Green, listened to speakers, and received their diplomas. The ceremony was attended by family members and friends who cheered for the graduates. Interim President Leslie Wong also addressed the crowd.
