Disney has invested $1.5 billion in the popular online game Fortnite, developed by Epic Games. Fortnite offers various game modes with a shared gameplay experience. The collaboration between Disney and Epic Games aims to create new content and an entertainment universe where consumers can play, watch, and purchase Disney-related content. This partnership has the potential to revitalize the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and Epic Games may also work on future Disney productions for screens. As part of the deal, Epic Games will have to refund $245 million to Fortnite players.
In a recent collaboration, Fortnite has teamed up with Marvel to introduce new in-game cosmetics featuring characters from the Loki series. Players can expect two bundles, one featuring Loki and another featuring Sylvie Laufeydottir. Each bundle includes a backbling and pickaxe, along with unique emotes. These cosmetics can be purchased separately in the item shop. The Loki bundle includes the Miss Minutes backbling, TVA Time Stick pickaxe, and Mischief Flip emote. The Sylvie bundle includes Sylvie’s Crown backbling, Sylvie’s armor wrap, Sylvie’s Sword pickaxe, and Sylvie skin. Both Loki and Sylvie skins will also have LEGO Fortnite versions upon release. The official release date for the Loki bundles is yet to be announced, and the prices for the items have not been disclosed. It is worth noting that older skins are still awaiting official models in the game and will not have LEGO Fortnite versions.
In addition to the collaboration with Marvel, Disney has opened pre-registration sign-ups for Disney Frozen Royal Castle, a dollhouse sim game featuring characters from the popular Disney franchise. Players can interact with Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff in various rooms of the castle, including the Great Hall, the Kitchen, and the Fragrance Suite. The game allows for activities such as fashion designing, cooking challenges, and mixing scents. Disney Frozen Royal Castle is available for pre-registration on the App Store and Google Play, and it is a free-to-play game with in-app purchases. Budge Studios, known for other family-friendly games such as Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures and My Little Pony Rainbow Runners, has developed Disney Frozen Royal Castle.
