The results of the Barbados Secondary Schools Entrance Examination (BSSEE), also known as the 11-plus exam, were announced by Minister of Education, Technological and Vocational Training Kay McConney. Two students, Ryanna Bascombe of Providence School and Finn Graham of St Winifred’s School, scored identical marks in the exam. Both students achieved a score of 99 in Mathematics and 96 in English, with an 'A' in Composition, resulting in an overall converted mark of 246.81. The ministry reported a minimal increase in the number of students allocated to public secondary schools this year compared to last year, with 96.1% of students being allocated to public schools. In Mathematics, nine students scored a perfect 100, compared to 35 in 2023 and two in 2022. In English, no student scored full marks, and scores ranged from 0 to 98%. One student received a score of zero in English. The ministry plans to analyze the areas where students faced the greatest challenges in order to provide targeted intervention for improvement.
