Switzerland government websites were hit by a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) cyberattack ahead of a peace summit on Ukraine hosted by Bern. The attacks resulted in minor outages but did not significantly affect the operation of the affected units. The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) stated that the attacks were expected and presumed to be in connection with the summit. The NCSC assured that the security of data and systems was never at risk and that there is currently no acute danger. The summit, scheduled for June 15-16, aims to come up with a roadmap for involving Ukraine and Russia in a future peace process. Russia, however, has declined to attend the conference and was not invited.
In light of the peace conference, Zurich Airport is expecting high traffic volume and has implemented enhanced security measures. Numerous state representatives will travel via Zurich Airport, potentially affecting the punctuality of scheduled services. Passengers are advised to check the airport's website for possible delays. The observation decks will be closed from June 14 to 16, and public airport tours will be cancelled. Additional security measures will be taken along the airport fence. The Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) has adjusted the night flight restrictions for the nights of June 15/16 and June 16/17, 2024, allowing delayed scheduled flights to operate until 02:00 a.m. Flights by state aircraft are permitted without restriction during these nights.
