Dhruv Vajipayajula, a senior neuroscience major at Temple University, has been accepted into the MD/PhD medical scientist training program at Tufts University in Boston. Vajipayajula, a native of Bengaluru, India, conducted undergraduate research projects during his time at Temple, presented at conferences, and published his work in peer-reviewed journals. He was awarded the Thermo Fisher Scientific Antibody Scholarship for his research. Vajipayajula worked in labs at Temple, studying platelets and investigating causes of platelet activation in cardiovascular disease. He credits Satya P. Kunapuli, director of the Sol Sherry Thrombosis Research Center, for being instrumental in his research path. Additionally, Vajipayajula participated in an eight-week program at Thomas Jefferson Hospital, where he shadowed physicians and solidified his desire to work in academic medicine. He plans to pursue a career in research and clinical practice.
Kunchok Dorjee pursued a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree at Stony Brook University after witnessing the impact of tuberculosis (TB) in the Tibetan community in India. He later earned a PhD in Epidemiology and now leads the global TB elimination initiative, Zero TB in Kids, at Johns Hopkins University. Stony Brook University is a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU) and is ranked 68th for public health by US News and World Report. The university's faculty members, such as Dr. Mahdieh Danesh Yazdi, Dr. Jaymie Meliker, and Dr. Guanyu Huang, are actively shaping the public health field. The MPH program at Stony Brook covers five core public health disciplines and offers various concentrations, including the latest addition of Climate Solutions and Health.
