Paramount+ has canceled the previously greenlit Dungeons & Dragons live-action TV series. The original project had Rawson Marshall Thurber as creator, writer for the pilot, and director for the first episode, along with Drew Crevello as executive producer and showrunner. However, Hasbro Entertainment plans to take the series in a new creative direction before shopping it to potential buyers. Hasbro is determined to bring the Dungeons & Dragons cinematic universe to life with the TV series, the 2023 film Honor Among Thieves, and the Broadway show The Twenty-Sided Tavern. The film Honor Among Thieves, directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, fell short of breaking even at the box office, and talks of a sequel are uncertain due to the cancellation of the live-action series. Despite the cancellation, there is an ongoing Dungeons & Dragons project, The Legend of Vox Machina, an animated series on Prime Video based on the campaign told in the web series. The third season is expected to be released later this year. [2e7360e8]
