On Wednesday, March 6, 2024, U.S. Senator Tim Scott will host his eighth annual HBCU Fly-In. The event will take place in the Mike Mansfield Room in the U.S. Capitol and will celebrate over 100 historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), including South Carolina State University. The fly-in will feature key speakers and leaders such as Senator Tim Scott, Benedict College President Dr. Roslyn Clark Artis, South Carolina State University President Col. (Ret.) Alexander Conyers, and HBCU presidents and chancellors from across the U.S. The purpose of the event is to highlight the historic contributions of HBCUs to the American economy and workforce, as well as facilitate discussions on ways to strengthen these institutions [3e50e572].
In January, Sen. Tim Scott endorsed former President Donald Trump for the 2024 election, choosing him over his fellow South Carolinian and former governor Nikki Haley [3e50e572].
