From April 8 to 15, the Columbia Valley RCMP in Invermere, Canada, responded to 53 calls for service. One notable incident involved the arrest of a known prohibited driver in Invermere. A 37-year-old man suspected of several property crimes and wanted on an outstanding warrant was apprehended in a swamp near Creston, British Columbia, after a high-speed chase. On July 2, 2024, Creston RCMP officers attempted to stop the suspect's truck, but he failed to stop and evaded police while traveling west on Highway 3. The Southeast District’s Emergency Response Team (SED ERT) was deployed due to the suspect posing a risk to police and public safety. A helicopter was used to locate the suspect's truck, which then turned back towards Creston. Spike belts were deployed, and the suspect's vehicle was disabled near West Creston Road and Highway 3. The suspect fled into nearby marshlands but was eventually apprehended after an hours-long search.
