Los Angeles is home to a large Korean population, with approximately 230,000 people of Korean descent residing in the area. This community is diverse, consisting of second or third-generation Koreans born and raised in the US, as well as individuals who were born in Korea and settled in LA. Recently, the author had the opportunity to visit their daughter's family in LA and was able to experience the natural beauty of the American West. They were impressed by the region's abundant natural resources, including majestic mountain ranges, sprawling deserts, and extensive forests. These natural resources are integral to the economy of the West, supporting industries such as energy, IT, timber, and tourism. The Korean community in the American West is thriving and encompasses individuals working in various professions, with a concentration in major cities like LA. The Korean Church and Korean Association play a vital role in preserving cultural identity within the community. However, there is a risk of limited interaction with the outside world. To ensure sustainable economic development, the author suggests greater political engagement and capacity building in advanced technology and innovation within the Korean community.
