The hub, a 67,000 square foot community-centered space, aims to provide health and social services to the Thorncliffe Park community, which consists mostly of immigrant families. The hub will offer services such as free primary care, language interpretation, and programs in multiple languages. The majority of the $24 million capital funding for the hub is coming from Ontario’s Ministry of Health, with additional funding from United Way Greater Toronto, the federal government, and the City of Toronto. The Cloverdale District Chamber of Commerce and Surrey Hospice Society are hosting the second annual Surrey Hospice Society Charity Golf Tournament on Friday, Sept. 13, at Hazelmere Golf and Tennis Club. The event aims to raise funds for the Surrey Hospice Society, a non-profit organization that provides free grief-support to the families of terminally ill individuals. The tournament will also help raise awareness about the work of the Surrey Hospice Society and support the Cloverdale and East Surrey business community. The Hope, Faith and Grace (HFG) Community Project in Springs is seeking support to transform the lives of youth in the community. They are raising funds for a kombi to transport youth and volunteers, as well as renovating the center. Sir John Peace has been appointed as the Independent Chair to lead the newly established Greater Carlton Town Board. The board aims to empower local communities and shape the future of Greater Carlton and the surrounding areas with £20 million in endowment-style funding over the next decade. The first meeting of the board was held on Wednesday 10 July at Carlton Le Willows Academy. A consultation will be launched on Monday 15 July to gather residents' views on how the money will be spent. The consultation will be open until the end of August and hosted by Gedling Borough Council.
