Meanwhile, in Limerick, a new directory showcasing the very best of Limerick's food and drink production was launched. Created by Limerick Food Group, the directory features fifty Limerick food and drink businesses and is the first time Limerick’s broad landscape of food producers has been captured in one convenient publication. Led by Limerick Food Group’s Tom Flavin and Cllr Olivia O’Sullivan, the project is supported by the Local Enterprise Office Limerick and West Limerick Resources LEADER funding. The directory includes a foldout illustrated map plotting Limerick’s producers and locations. The initiative aims to promote local food producers, highlight Limerick as a leading food destination, and showcase the unique food heritage and culture of the west of Ireland. The project was conceived during the pandemic and was made possible with the support of True Media, Conor O’Brien Design, GM Innovations, and James Burke. The launch took place at the Engine building, hosted by Innovate Limerick.
