One example of such a killer is Robert Benjamin Rhoades, who is currently serving a life sentence for the murder of two teenagers but is suspected of having tortured, raped, and killed more than 50 others between 1975 and 1990. Figliuzzi calls for more empathy towards trafficked victims and for more safeguards to be put in place to stop bad actors from infiltrating the trucking industry.

The Night Stalker was a real-life serial killer who wreaked havoc in Los Angeles in the 1980s. The Night Stalker, also known as Richard Ramirez, inspired the plotline of the film MaXXXine, which is set in 1985 Los Angeles and follows an aspiring actress named Maxine Minx. He sexually assaulted many of his victims before murdering them and left behind eerie Satanic motifs at the crime scenes. Ramirez was caught with the help of two detectives and was found guilty of murdering 13 people. He was sentenced to death but died in prison from illness before his execution.
