The empirical study on the structure and separation of powers between the attorney-general and public prosecutor (AG-PP) in Malaysia continues with a delegation led by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Azalina Othman Said visiting Australia. The delegation, which included Azalina's deputy M Kulasegaran, Parliamentary Special Select Committee on Human Rights, Elections and Institutional Reform chairman William Leong, and opposition bloc representative Awang Hashim, conducted the study from June 2 to 6 [79fea4ad].
The purpose of the study is to gain insights and learn from Australia's system of AG-PP separation. Malaysia aims to enhance its own legal system and ensure the independence and effectiveness of both the attorney-general and public prosecutor roles. The study is part of Malaysia's ongoing efforts to reform its legal and institutional framework [79fea4ad].
