Benjamin Appiah Boateng, a 35-year-old forex trader, has been remanded into police custody by an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly defrauding two investors, Mr. Berry Kwadwo Agyapong and Mr. David Burke, of a total of $300,000 and GH₵10 million. Boateng reportedly persuaded the victims to invest in USDT (Tether) on trading platforms such as Binance, claiming to be a successful trader. Mr. Agyapong invested $300,000, while Mr. Burke initially invested GH₵555,000 and later increased his investment to GH₵9,890,000. When Mr. Burke attempted to withdraw his funds, Boateng became unresponsive and eventually admitted to gambling away the investments. The court, presided over by Mr. Samuel Bright Acquah, did not take Boateng's plea and has adjourned the case to January 13, 2025, as investigations continue into the alleged fraud [34774257].
