Descendants of the Artero and Tweed families recently embarked on a hike to 'Tweed's Cave' on Guam's Northern plateau. The cave served as a hiding place for George Tweed during the Imperial Japan's occupation of Guam. The group, which included Lolly Tweed (George Tweed's daughter), her son-in-law Bradley Mulvihill, and grandsons Brian and Casey Mulvihill, was joined by U.S. Army retired Maj. Gen. Roderick Leon Guerrero, the grandson of Antonio Artero. They were accompanied by a small group from Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz. The hike followed an overgrown and unrecognizable WWII-era road that led to a lush fern-covered valley. Lolly Tweed had previously visited the cave 17 years ago and expressed gratitude for the support to make the hike. In December 2024, the Artero family installed two signs—one at the foot of the hill and one inside the cave—to honor the friendship between the families. The historic reunion was hosted by Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz, and Tweed's Cave is located on the base. [68955f77]
