During the Bedford County Board of Supervisors meeting on May 13, several local organizations were recognized with proclamations. Bedford County Sheriff Mike Miller and staff received a proclamation recognizing May 12 through May 18 as National Police Week and May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day. Director of Fire and Rescue Janet Blankenship received a proclamation recognizing May 19 through May 25 as Emergency Medical Services Week. Bedford County Nursing Home Administrator Paul Poff received a proclamation recognizing May 12 through May 18 as National Skilled Nursing Care Week. Director of Tourism Nicole Johnson received a proclamation recognizing May 19 through May 25 as National Travel and Tourism Week. The Board also authorized the renewal of leases for the Moneta Farmer’s Market and the Forest Farmer’s Market. A public hearing was held to discuss proposed updates to the Secondary Six Year Plan (SSYP) for construction work on Bedford’s secondary road system. The Board authorized the release of an Invitation for Bids for flat roof replacement at the Bedford County Courthouse and approved the re-appropriation of funds for the Bedford County School Board. The next Board of Supervisors meeting will be held on May 28.

On Wednesday, the Columbus Regional Hospital Board of Trustees will meet at 3 p.m. at the CRH administrative boardroom. The Humans Rights Commission will meet at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall. On Thursday, the Solid Waste Management District Board will meet at 9 a.m. at the Governmental Office Building. The Substance Abuse Public Funding Board will meet at 2 p.m. at Columbus City Hall. The Elizabethtown Town Council Work Meeting will take place at 6 p.m. at Elizabethtown Town Hall. In Jennings County, the North Vernon City Council will meet at 6 p.m. at the Carnegie Government Center. The Soil and Water Conservation District Board will meet at 7 p.m. at the USDA Service Center. The Board of Public Works & Safety Meeting will take place at 9:30 a.m. at the Carnegie Government Center.
