U.S. Representative Collin Allred, who is challenging Senator Ted Cruz in the upcoming election, has publicly expressed his support for Israel while also receiving donations from several pro-Palestinian activists. Allred has accepted contributions from individuals and organizations that hold a less friendly stance towards Israel. Some of these donors have blamed Israel for terrorist attacks, encouraged support for groups linked to Palestinian terror organizations, defended designated terror groups, accused Israel of 'ethnic cleansing,' and held high-level positions in anti-Israel organizations. Donors include Ian Haney López, a law professor at the University of California Berkeley, who has given Allred $1,000 since 2017. López has encouraged involvement with Dream Defenders, a left-wing racial justice organization that supports the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a U.S.-designated terror organization. Nayyer Ali, a philanthropist and member of the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), has donated $2,100 to Allred since 2018. MPAC has advocated for removing Hamas and Hezbollah from the U.S. list of designated terrorist organizations and blamed Israel for terrorist attacks. Elaine Nonneman, a member of the Channel Foundation, which supports anti-Israel activists, has also donated to Allred. Other donors include Lana Tatour, Hanan Elmasu, Adelaide Gomer, and JStreetPAC. Allred has also received support from individuals and groups associated with the defund the police movement and the Soros family.
In addition to these donations, it has come to light that several big-name Democratic donors, including George Soros, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and David Rockefeller Jr., have been funding anti-Israel protesters on college campuses. Organizations such as Jewish Voice for Peace and IfNotNow are behind these protests, with support from the Tides Foundation. Pro-Palestinian protesters receiving funding from Democratic donors have disrupted events attended by President Biden and other Democratic leaders, protesting US involvement in Israel's conflict with Hamas. President Biden has spoken out against antisemitism and violent protests, emphasizing that while peaceful protest is protected, violent actions such as destroying property, trespassing, and intimidating individuals are not. Democrats have been criticized for their support of anti-Israel protesters, with questions raised about the funding sources and motivations behind these demonstrations. The involvement of high-profile Democratic donors in funding anti-Israel protests has sparked backlash and criticism, with many questioning the sources of funding for these demonstrations. The issue of funding for anti-Israel protests remains contentious, with conflicting views on the appropriateness of such support from Democratic donors. It remains to be seen how these revelations will impact Allred's campaign and his relationship with pro-Israel voters.
