American Airlines has announced a significant expansion of its flight network, introducing five new routes as of December 21, 2024. Among these, three routes will operate from LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to Bozeman, Calgary, and Kalispell, starting June 7, 2025. Notably, the Kalispell route, at 2,035 miles, will become the longest nonstop flight from LaGuardia. These routes will be available through August 30, 2025. In addition, American will launch new services from Chicago to Halifax, beginning June 21, 2025, and from Dallas/Fort Worth to Quebec, which will operate from August 9 to November 1, 2025. However, the airline will cut the LaGuardia to Philadelphia route effective June 5, 2025. This expansion comes amid delays in Boeing 787 Dreamliner deliveries, which are impacting the spring 2025 schedule, including a shift in the Chicago to Paris service from April to May 2025. Furthermore, American Airlines recently announced the launch of non-stop flights between Chicago O'Hare International Airport and Madrid, starting March 30, 2025. This new route marks the eighth European service from O'Hare, making American the only U.S. airline operating on this route, while Iberia also provides daily flights using Airbus A330-300 aircraft. The new service will offer over 3,000 seats weekly between Chicago and Spain, with flights operated on Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners. Flight AA 126 will depart Chicago at 22:15 and arrive in Madrid at 13:20 the following day, while Flight AA 125 will leave Madrid at 16:35, landing in Chicago at 18:50. In addition to this new route, American Airlines operates services to London, Paris, Rome, Dublin, Barcelona, Venice, and Athens, with further expansions planned for next summer, including new routes from Miami to Rome and Philadelphia to Edinburgh.
