The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has released its first-ever global report on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) in the Travel & Tourism industry. The report provides data on DEIB in employment within the sector, with a focus on gender, age, sexual orientation, disability status, and educational skills. The research shows that Australia has the highest share of female workers in the industry at 54%, followed by the US at 48%. The US also has a higher share of youth employees in the sector compared to the overall economy. The UK's Travel & Tourism sector employs a higher share of LGBTQ+ employees than the overall economy, with a nearly 2.7 percentage point increase since 2011. The report also highlights the representation of workers with disabilities in the UK and the US. WTTC President & CEO Julia Simpson emphasizes the importance of creating a sense of belonging and supporting employees in the industry. The report includes best practice examples for recruitment, education and training, and benefits. WTTC calls for education on DEIB, senior leadership support, and benchmarking and research to address the challenges faced by the sector. The report aims to make travel and tourism more diverse and inclusive. [be61796f] [db0db7af] [51e5bb14].
