The National Agency Against Trafficking-In Persons (NAATIP) has expanded its efforts to combat human trafficking by launching investigations into orphanages nationwide in Nigeria. The Director-General of NAATIP, Prof. Fatima Waziri-Azi, revealed that several orphanages are currently under investigation for committing infractions that can be categorized as human trafficking. The agency is taking legal action against some of these orphanages. Waziri-Azi emphasized the need for orphanages to operate with caution and adhere to proper procedures. She also warned Nigerians to exercise caution when adopting babies from these homes and stressed the importance of following due process in adoption.
