Andrea Armeni, co-founder of Transform Finance, believes that impact investing should go beyond interrogating the practices of legacy finance and should also challenge the decision-making power and wealth distribution within the industry. Armeni has been pushing for change in the finance sector since his high school days and has built a reputation for making impact investors uncomfortable. He co-founded Transform Finance with Morgan Simon to advocate for investors to add more value than they extract and allocate risk to those best able to bear it. Armeni is now a professor at NYU's Wagner School, where he teaches social finance and public service. He believes that impact investing should not be limited to MBAs and that it can be a powerful tool for driving social change. Armeni is encouraged by the increasing recognition of ideas such as examining negative impacts and tying investor compensation to impact outcomes among impact investors. However, he believes that there is still much work to be done in the field. [c64cb1de]
