MSU Political Science Study Abroad program participants have returned from the United Kingdom after an event-filled trip. Led by PLS Professor Dr. Michael Wahman, the program started in London and ended in Edinburgh with side trips throughout the six-week program. Highlights included participation in the famous Oxford Union Debate, a South Asian immigration tour with human rights activists in Southall, a policy workshop at the Tony Blair Institute, a round table about the Conservative Party at Margaret Thatcher’s Center for Policy Studies, a visit to the BBC, and the Welch Parliament in Cardiff. The students also met with the MP for Brixton, a local councilor in Brighton, and a Member of the Welch Parliament. They had the opportunity to canvass with the Liberal Democrats in Wimbledon. Mid Ulster students from Northern Ireland are embarking on a US scholarship programme organized by the Washington Ireland Program (WIP) [1fa44cda]. The programme aims to promote peace and reconciliation in Northern Ireland and has been running for over 25 years, helping hundreds of students from the region. The students will spend eight weeks in the US, attending universities and gaining work experience. They will also participate in community service projects and cultural activities.
