The abuse had a significant impact on the woman's life, leading to struggles with alcohol and drug abuse. Following the scandal, Goldschmidt's portrait was removed from the state Capitol and placed in storage. Despite the controversy, Goldschmidt's tenure as governor was marked by a focus on economic growth and crime reduction. He is survived by his second wife, Diana Snowden, their children, as well as children from a previous marriage and a stepchild.
