The Marquette University women's tennis team secured a 4-2 victory over St. John's in a match held in Queens, NY. The team claimed the doubles point with a default win at No. 3 and Tiera Jarmond and Emilija Kojcic won at No. 2. Marquette also earned a singles win at No. 6 due to a default. Emilija Kojcic achieved a straight-set singles victory at No. 2, while Tiera Jarmond won in straight sets at No. 5. The team will conclude their regular season with a doubleheader against Xavier and Butler at Elite Sports Club - River Glen.
Meanwhile, the Stevens Institute of Technology men's tennis team came back to defeat New York University (NYU) Misericordia 5-4 on Sunday. Vivek Harinarayan clinched the winning point on singles for the Ducks. The Ducks trailed 2-1 after doubles play but avoided the sweep with a win on the third line. In singles play, the Ducks kept themselves in the match, with both teams having two two-set wins, making the score 4-3 Violets. Harinarayan won his match after going down 7-5 in the first set, storming back to win 7-5 and 6-4 in the final two sets. With the win, Stevens improves to 9-5 against NYU and has won the last five matches since 2018. Stevens completes a perfect weekend with a 14-4 aggregate win over their two opponents. Harinarayan picked up his fourth singles win of the season, and Max-William Kanz and Samvid Andhare have won four of their last five doubles matches together. Sebastian Wroe has won three-straight singles matches. The Ducks will host Lebanon Valley in MAC Freedom play next Saturday.
