A lawsuit was filed against a doctor who is a member of Hekimsen, working as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist in Burhaniye district of Balıkesir province. The doctor was assigned a 15-day duty shift at the hospital where he was the only specialist physician in his branch, despite no appointment being made to the vacant position and no other gynecologist actually working. The Physicians and Other Healthcare Workers Public Health and Social Services Union (Hekimsen) appealed the case after it was rejected by the first instance court. The appeal was accepted, and the decision of the Balıkesir Administrative Court rejecting the case was annulled. The administrative procedure regarding the on-call duty of the doctor was also deemed unlawful. In other news, Justice KS Hegde Hospital, a constituent of Nitte (Deemed to be University) Deralakatte, Mangaluru, has introduced evening clinic services at the hospital premises from July 1. The OPD services will be available from the special clinic block on weekdays from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm. The evening clinic was inaugurated by N Vinay Hegde, the honorable chancellor of Nitte University. The clinical departments of general medicine, general surgery, pediatrics, orthopedics, OBG, and radio diagnosis services are available at the hospital.
