updates: The Lagos state government has launched the N750 million Trader Moni scheme to assist market women and men in the state. The scheme was unveiled by the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, alongside the first Agro-Food Hub in the state. In the first phase of the Lagos State Market Money, 15,000 beneficiaries will receive N50,000 each, with 200 beneficiaries from each local government in the state. The Agro-Food Hub, located in the Idi-Oro area of Mushin, covers 6,400 sq.m of land and includes car/truck parking areas and centralized dry and cold storage systems. The hub aims to improve the food system by reducing wastage, post-harvest losses, and traffic congestion. The Iyaloja of Mushin, Alhaja Taibat Borokini, expressed appreciation for the scheme, stating that it will address the challenges faced by market men and women.
