Version 0.12 (2024-02-21 21:37:35.810000)
updates: The Federal High Court in Port Harcourt has acquitted Chief Fubara Ohaka, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Deputy Chairman of Youth Movement in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, of charges filed against him by the Federal government. Ohaka had been standing trial on six counts for two years, including alleged involvement in illegal oil bunkering, terrorism, dealing in illegal refining products without a license, and conspiracy. The charges were preferred against him in 2022 by the Federal government through the Department of State Services. The trial judge, Justice Stephen Dalyop-Pam, held that the Federal Government failed to provide evidence to back its claims, leading to the defendant's discharge and acquittal. Ohaka expressed happiness and stated that the judgment has vindicated him and put shame on those who conspired to tarnish his image. He advised government agencies to carry out proper investigations before engaging in legal battles [4b0849b7].
